Level Up Your Acting Skills: Preparing for Performance

Description:

We all love performing the script, but what about everything else that has to do with show preparation? From learning how to write blocking and script notes to understanding the "between the lines" meanings of a show, this class will guide you through the knowledge you need to level up your theatre skills. At the end of our course, the big finale will be a short performance for friends and family!

This class is open to individuals of all abilities 18+ with a supportive environment for neurodivergent adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and autism. This class is open to new & returning Barrier-Free participants, no prior acting experience required!

Details:

  • Wednesdays June 4 - July 30 (9 weeks)
  • 7:00 - 8:30pm
  • Westminster Community Center (25 Union St Westminster, MD 21157)
  • Parents, counselors, siblings, etc. may wait on-site in the downstairs conference room if needed
  • Lead Teaching Artist: Kelly Young & Marie Angier
  • Assistant Teaching Artists: Mike Eaton

New participants are welcome to enroll! We offer a "no pressure" two-week trial period for all classes.

Step 1: Fill out the online registration & select "check payment" to bypass payment.

Step 2: Attend the first two weeks of classes as a "test run."

Step 3: After the two weeks, let us know if you'd like to continue. We can then arrange online or check payment, depending on your preference.

DDA Self-Directed Funding

Kristina Culbreth, Statewide Coordinator of Self-Directed Services, has taken a stricter stance regarding IFDGS Self-Direct requests, leading to significant disruptions in funding approvals. Despite our programs full alignment with the Self-Directed Services Manual, as they have been approved for many years, all requests are now being denied.

Given these circumstances, we cannot rely on IFDGS requests at this time and all class payments must be made by the individual/family at the time of registration. Please know that this decision has not been made lightly. The unpredictable and arbitrary funding changes imposed by Kristina Culbreth have left us with no alternative.
